Food / Nutrition

The FOOD Soldier

Facilitated by Roshelle Pate, an EIW alumni, The FOOD Soldier is a "FREE Fresh Produce & Food Give-A-Way Empowerment & Resource Zone" created to educate Franklin County on free resources available to keep healthy food on the table, inspire us to make healthy eating choices, facilitate volunteerism & the sharing of information between group members, and get you financially better off as a result of the savings you will see by getting free food items.

Mid-Ohio Food Collective

One of Ohio's largest food banks serving over 20 counties. They serve over 140,000 meals per day and work with 680 partner agencies to distribute food. The Food Collective also provide food-based health care through Mid-Ohio Farmacy, can help Ohioans enroll in SNAP and WIC, and provide transportation services in some cases.

Medical Care

Columbus Public Health

Comprehensive list of health services available in Columbus and how to access them. Includes resources for COVID-19, alcohol and drug programs, low-cost health services, sexual health clinics, and more.

Ohio Family 2 Family

 

Family-to-Family Health Information Centers (F2F HICs) are family-staffed organizations that assist families of children and youth with special health care needs (CYSHCN) and the professionals who serve them. F2F HICs provide support, information, resources, and training around health issues.

Action for Children

Serving in Columbus, Action for Children provides resources for finding child care, COVID-19, free online parenting support, and additional resources for children's activities. Resources are available for providers and educators as well.

Social Services

YWCA Family Center

The YWCA Family Center works to decrease the number of people who are homeless,
subject to eviction, or living in shelters; create equitable neighborhoods; and assists young women and children by giving them resources not offered by society at large.​

Family & Community Services, Inc.

Serves Northeast Ohio with housing and emergency support services, consumer credit counseling, youth services through Big Brothers Big Sisters, employment/transportation/recreation services for those with developmental disabilities, senior services, and more.

The Buckeye Ranch

Serving in Central and Southwestern Ohio, The Buckeye Ranch provides school-based counseling, LGBTQ+ resources, ways on how to become a foster parent, and information for parents on how to support the family and child.

Family Connections

Operating out of Northeast Ohio, Family Connections provides programs including: Baby & Me (0-1 year); Literacy Library Playroom (0-5 years); Parent Support (0-5 years); SPARK (3-5 years); Family School Connection (5-6 years).

Child Care Aware of America

CCAoA works with a national network of more than 400 child care resource and referral agencies and other partners to ensure that all families have access to quality, affordable child care. CCAoA also provides child care assistance for military families through Fee Assistance and Respite Child Care Programs that have served more than 150,000 families and worked with more than 60,000 child care providers over nearly two decades.

National Center for Children in Poverty

This organization provides economic support for low-income families, access to high-quality early education, support for young children and parents with mental health needs, inclusion of immigrant families, and more.

Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services and The Latino Affairs Commission joins statewide efforts to increase access to information regarding Suicide Prevention.
